Since 1999, GSHSS has been developing the Garden State Heirloom Seed Society Museum, Delaware Lake, New Jersey.

The Museum, housed in a circe-1880 farmhouse,

The main farm house.
will open to the public for tours in 2003, and include an exhibition area demonstrating early 19th-century farm life, period farm tools, two acres to grow out heirloom seed varieties, and a period kitchen garden. The Museum garden will serve as an outdoor classroom, providing a way of understanding agricultural traditions, and particular local practices and social customs of the past.

The GSHSS web site will include regularly updated pages from the “Farm Journal” of GSHSS co-founders Joseph and Roberta Cavanaugh, featuring their ongoing historical research to develop the living historical farm museum and historically accurate 19th-century kitchen garden. Digitized photographs of the farm and collected farm tools – allowing site visitors

The spring house.
to see changes in the farm museum over time – will be added frequently.

Please return soon as there will be plenty to see in the weeks and months ahead.
